Dr. Patrick Tsai, MD, MHA "Dr. Tsai"
Dr. Tsai is a board-certified ophthalmologist, experienced cataract surgeon capable of handling simple to the most complex cases. He also has additional formal training in glaucoma to be called a GLAUCOMA SPECIALIST, whom other general physicians, ophthalmologists and optometrists often refer patients to.
Experience, skills and talent are crucial factors when selecting an eye surgeon. You need someone who knows not only the basics of cataract & glaucoma surgery but has also encountered special cases and has dealt with them successfully. Dr. Patrick Tsai has over 15 years of experience and has cared for thousands of eyes with cataracts and glaucoma.
Dr. Patrick Tsai is an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology and was previously the Residency Program Director at the University of Arizona. After graduating from Stanford University, Dr. Tsai achieved postgraduate degrees from Washington University in St. Louis and Indiana University before completing a residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and a glaucoma fellowship at Indiana University.
He has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades for his research, work, and teaching and has trained countless medical students and resident ophthalmologists. Dr. Tsai has authored multiple articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for various ophthalmology journals. Dr. Tsai is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is active with the Arizona and Tucson Ophthalmology Societies.
Dr. Mai Ly Tsai, OD "Dr. Mai"
Dr. Mai has over 20 years of ophthalmic experience. After graduating valedictorian and class president of her high school, she matriculated at the University of Notre Dame and graduated at the top of her class from the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry.

Dr. Sara Frye, OD, MPH
Dr. Frye obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia in Canada. Her Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree is from Nova Southeastern University, where she received the Florida Optometric Association Presidential Award upon graduation. She completed a postdoctoral residency at UC Berkeley. She has a demonstrated passion for lifelong learning, going on to complete her Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Frye has had a multi-faceted career encompassing work in many areas of eye care. In addition to practicing in the ophthalmologic setting, she has held a position as Associate Professor at the Arizona College of Optometry, as well as an industry role at Alcon working in intraocular lens research.
At Advanced Eye Care of Tucson, she works to provide individualized, professional care for adult patients. She performs diabetic eye exams, in addition to diagnosing and treating a wide range of ocular conditions, from infections to glaucoma. She also has expertise in the cornea, including the treatment of dry eye.
